The Holladay Equivalent K Reading or the EKR - The EKR comes with the Pentacam which is Scheimflug based topography ( tomography ). In the EKR mode, the true indices of the cornea and the aqueous is used. That is, in the EKR mode, as light passes through the air and enters the anterior cornea passing the tear film, and thereby leaves refracted filexlib. Some keratometers have the reading in both diopters and radius of curvature (mm). The axis for the horizontal reading is taken from the horizontal mark on the axis wheel (arrow below). The reading here is axis 165. The axis for the vertical reading is taken from the mark on the top. This reading is axis 75. The keratometer is tilted 18° in relation to the aspherical surface major axis. It is assumed that the instrument will measure the sagittal radius along the keratometer telescope optical axis. This is an oversimplification. A region of the surface further from the major axis and another region closer to the axis will form the mire images.

What is a normal K reading? It is critical to the proper functioning of nerve and muscles cells, particularly heart muscle cells. Normally, your blood potassium level is 3.6 to 5.2 millimoles per liter (mmol/L). A very low potassium level (less than 2.5 mmol/L ) can be life-threatening and requires urgent medical attention.
Comparing keratometry readings with manual separation of lids and wire speculum in children under general anesthesia July 2021 Indian Journal of Ophthalmology 69(8):2050-2052
What is a K reading in keratometry ? Keratometry is called the measurement of corneal curvature. In this, corneal curvature determines or reflects the strength of the cornea, and differences in power in the cornea also result in astigmatism, which is why keratometry measures astigmatism.
Purpose: To compare the accuracy of intraocular lens power prediction for eyes with average keratometry (K) readings greater than 46.00 diopters (D) and lower than 42.00 D. Setting: Ein-Tal Eye Center, Tel-Aviv, Israel. Design: Retrospective case series. Methods: Eyes having cataract extraction surgery with steep and flat preoperative corneal curvatures determined with the Lenstar-LS900 device 3)Readings : s When the instrument is correctly aligned. record the ready from the diagrams beside the images Fig.6 s When oblige sating mates is present record the degree of rotation instrument. 4 Assembly s This section of the manual describes how to assemble BL-8002 keratometer .all parts should be taken out with great care from the packing
ent of K readings. The lids can be separated either by fingers or a wire speculum may be placed to separate the lids for measurement. Methods: The children selected for the study were patients cooperative for keratometry reading. Nidek KM-500 handheld keratometer was used first in the awake period. Then under general anesthesia, readings were taken first by separating the lids manually with
