As reported by the World Economic Forum, by the year 2025, A.I. will displace 85 million jobs, but will create 97 million new ones. While there is a net positive of 12 million jobs, the reality is that this won’t be a smooth transition. Hence, businesses need to take the onus of training employees to meet future job expectations and for workers to make themselves adaptable to the forthcoming changes.
Today, AXJ Global News Network, discusses some prominent changes that A.I. will bring to the workplace and how workers can adapt to it.
Learn About New Technologies
A common misconception regarding A.I. is that it will make workers obsolete. While this theory is trying for jobs that require simple repetitive movements such as that on an assembly line in a factory, it isn’t the same in an office setting. Rather than a replacement, A.I. will serve as a useful companion, allowing workers to work better, faster and smarter. Here’s a list of a few A.I.-based technologies which will have greater adoption in the coming years:
Know What Changes to Expect
Whether your employer adopts one or multiple of these tools, here’s a list of common changes you can expect to experience in your day-to-day work:
Prepare Yourself for the Changes
Given that the adoption of A.I. in the workplace is bound to increase, the best way to prepare for this change is to learn as much as possible about the technology. For instance, pursuing a degree in computer science will teach you the basics of machine learning, data structures, and logic. The knowledge and skills you gain from the degree can open doors to new job prospects with growing market demand, such as data analysts, data scientists, IT consultants, and data administrators.
Even if you choose to stay put in your current role, the responsibilities you’ll be able to undertake will increase significantly. For instance, you could play a lead role in implementing new tools into the business and deepen your understanding of A.I. in the process.
Having a growth mindset is key for workers to adapt to the workplace's future. While you may still be impacted in some shape or form due to the disruptions, learning new skills and being aware of the forthcoming changes will make the transition much smoother.
